Best Places To Visit In India

February 10, 2018
Panthera Tigris or the Tiger
is the largest of the cat species. Once found in abundance over Eastern Eurasia, it is now limited to parts of Asia and Russia. Most national parks in India identify tigers by their stripe patterns and name them with ‘T’ followed by a numeric, like ‘T-24’. Sometimes their names are inspired by their lineage, physical features or even the territory they occupy, like ‘Choti Tara’ (Tara Jr), ‘Kankati’ (the one with the cut ear lobe) or ‘Waghdoh Male’ (named after the Waghdoh area in Maharashtra, India).

Where To Go On Holiday - Travel Purist

February 10, 2018
Once home to Arabs, Jews, Berbers and Christians, the city’s diverse past spills over into its present in the form of cathedrals and Christian monuments that co-exist with Islamic structures like the little known Arab baths. Marked by quaint tapas bars as well as bazaars and a Moroccan spice market, Granada comes alive during the festival of Corpus Christi in the month of June. http://www.travelpurist.com/arab-baths-gypsy-cave-bars-pagan-festival/

A Journey Into the Fjords and Glaciers of Norway

November 28, 2017

Ultimate Journey of Norway

With its dramatic fjords and glaciers, rail routes carved through mountains and roads flanked by deep woods, Norway is best experienced by all three modes of transport: rail, road and ferry.
Going by the multitude of cruise liners that slice through the icy waters of the Norwegian fjords each year, it is easy to infer that most travellers reserve a special place on their travel wish list for this spectacular destination. But we doubt that the souls of the rough Viking ancestors, who once inhabited these parts, would approve. A purist’s word of advice: leave that luxurious holiday confined to a deck in the company of fellow travellers for another time. Enjoy, instead, the peace and solitude that Norway has to offer by navigating it on your own.Fortunately, Norway tourism has made it easy enough for travellers to get around this beautiful country on their own.

What’s more, the tourism board combines travel by land and water in their Norway in a Nutshell tour that includes rides on the Flåm and Bergen Railways, a ferry ride along the beautiful Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord, as well as a bus journey that takes you down the hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva, the steepest road in northern Europe.

Blessing’s Zimbabwe

October 28, 2017

In Zimbabwe, we have something of everything – wildlife, flat plains, mountains, tropical lifestyle around a water source, the pastoral and the urban. Basically, city living mixed on with a bit of wilderness. And, of course, we have one of the seven wonders of the world, Victoria Falls, which South Africa often appropriates (Victoria Falls is shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe) when marketing holidays but never mind that.

When friends visit Zimbabwe, I am quick to encourage them off to the Falls, or to Kariba, Hwange, Mana Pools, Gonerezhou, the Eastern highlands or any place where there are lovely camps making the most of the abundance of nature and wildlife. One thing that I always tell them though, is to follow the rules and maintain a healthy respect (if not all out fear, I usually add jokingly) of the wildlife. If anyone gets chomped by a lion or a hippo or charged by elephants, it’s invariably a tourist. Local people know how to coexist with the true owners of the bush.

September 27, 2017
Nagaur is a city in the state of Rajasthan in India. It is famous for its largest cattle fair in India, the Fair held every year during the month of Jan or Feb. Thousands of animals (cows, bullocks, camels and horses) are gathered at the cattle fair for trading. One would probably not find such a variety of cattle anywhere in India at any other time.

Tribal Rhythm: The Korkus of Khandwa

Tribal Rhythm: The Korkus of Khandwa

One of the most exhilarating experiences of travel is the one in which you have nothing to plan and head straight out to an unknown place. These provide you with some amazing adventures. In this article, I am going to talk about one such place which has helped me know a lot about the Korku tribal community.

Before coming to this place I had no idea that any such community exists, which might be the case with most of you. It is because there is no documentation available on their settlement, culture, and lifestyle and these do not appear much in news.

Korku tribal community is concentrated in the Indian states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Korkus are known to be related to the Munda tribes of Jharkhand. The Korku language too falls under Austro-Asiatic family just as the Munda language. Due to poverty and restriction on the use of land by the government to save tigers has posed the problem of malnutrition and starvation in the tribe which is prominent amongst children and women.

You can find Korku tribes in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh in the areas of Kalibhit forest in Satpura range. It is widely known for its teak and Sangwan forest. Korkus worship waters of Narmada and Tapti. Narmada Dam Project is expected to change the fate of a number of villages.
Korku tribe homes are mainly made of natural materials like wood, bamboo, mud and cow dung, leaves and twigs, baked mud tiles etc. These, in turn, make it ideal for temperature variations as it is cool in summer and warm in winter.

Pay a visit today and learn the art to enjoy the nature in its full glory.
